AUS vs WI: West Indies Announces 15-member Test Squad, 7 Uncapped Players Makes Into The List

The West Indies cricket team is set to embark on a two-match test series in Australia. For this, they have announced a 15-member squad that includes seven uncapped players. Kraigg Brathwaite will look after the role of captain, while the position of vice-captain will be filled by the fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, This is the first time Joseph will be taking this responsibility.

The squad comprises several uncapped players, namely batter Zachary McCaskie, wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach, and all-rounders Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, and Kevin Sinclair. The fast bowling department sees the inclusion of Akeem Jordan and Shamar Joseph. Jayden Seales is unavailable due to a shoulder injury. Jason Holder and Kyle Mayers won’t be part of the squad as they have opted to hunt some T20 leagues in January.

“The squad has been affected by the unavailability of some key players. However, we have had a very strong red-ball program being run over the past year. Australia away is always a challenge, but we are confident in our team,” said lead selector Desmond Haynes.

The West Indian cricket team will reach Australia on December 30 and after that, they will have a preparation camp from 2-9 January in Adelaide.
