Matthew Hayden Slams Lucknow Super Giants for their Lackluster Performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad

The former Australian opener was not at all impressed with Lucknow Super Giants batting performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The batters of Lucknow struggled in their batting against the Sunrisers, as they scored just 166 runs in 20 overs in spite of losing only 4 wickets in their entire innings.

In his commentary, Matthew Hayden said, “I have to call them out. This is not 5 runs per over. Somebody needed to show intent. They had one of the slowest powerplays. That took the inning nowhere. When the opposition team has Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, your intention should be to go at 10s and over. 160–170 will never be enough.”

After their lackluster batting performance, even bowling added further to the misery of LSG as their bowling attack completely failed to contain the opening partnership of Travis Head (89) and Abhishek Sharma (75) as they chased the target in just 9.4 overs.

Lucknow will be playing against Delhi Capitals on May 14, which will be a virtual quarterfinal for both teams (considering the 16 points required to qualify for the playoffs).
