Lucknow’s skipper, Kl Rahul, said that they were completely outplayed by the opposite side after LSG’s loss against Sunrisers. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s openers Abhishek Sharma (75) and Travis Head (89) unleashed destruction against Lucknow Super Giants, chasing the target of 166 in just 9.4 overs.
Speaking about the team’s loss after the match, Kl Rahul said, “I am at a loss for words. We have watched that kind of batting on TV. But this is unreal batting. Everything seemed to fall into place right away. Kudos to their skills. They have worked hard on their six hitting skills. They didn’t give us a chance to know what the pitch played in the second inning. It was hard to stop them as they teed off from ball one.”
Before the batting, it was the bowling unit of Sunrisers Hyderabad that made the lives of batters difficult on the pitch, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar leading the attack and picking up 2 wickets, giving away just 12 runs in his 4 overs.
Kl Rahul blamed Lucknow’s poor batting in the powerplay as one of the other reasons for the loss.
Kl Rahul said, “Once you are on the losing side, there are question marks on the decisions taken. We were 40–50 runs short. When we lost wickets in the powerplay, we couldn’t get any momentum.
However, the skipper was all praise for the duo of Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni, who added a crucial 95 runs for the fifth wicket to get Lucknow to at least a fighting total of 166.
