“We can’t compare IPL with other…………”: Said IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal Before IPL 2023 Auction Event

Indian Premier League is one of the biggest league of cricket, and every cricket player try their best to play a chance in the IPL. The newly appointed chairman of the IPL, Arun Dhumal gave a big update on the IPL future and some serious notes on IPL’s team and Women IPL.

IPL is the second most valued sporting league in terms of per-match fees, after the media right for the 2023-27 cycle of 48,390 crores. But the IPL has been much shorter than EPL or NFL in the United States. IPL continued to be played in two-half months with 10 teams and a maximum of 94 matches were played.

Talking on an event, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal stated that IPL is a bigger event and it will be number one sports league in the world when he was asked about the BCCI plans about IPL.

“The IPL will be much bigger than what it is and will be the number one sports league in the world” Arun told to PTI.
Further the Chairman praised the contribution of the fans in the IPL. He stated that all credit goes to fans for whatever IPL has become today. And we will try our best to improve their viewing experience.

“We are definitely looking at various innovations that can be brought to make it more fan-friendly. For those who are watching it on Tv and those who are experiencing at the stadium, we want them to have a better experience. If we can make the IPL schedule well in advance, people from all around the world can plan their travel accordingly. It should be a value-for-money experience for the fans,” he added.

Number Of Teams Will Remain At 10 Only:-

We are managing the tournament with 10 teams, and it is really impossible to held the tournament with 12 teams because the annual budget and the match fixtures will also increase. We can’t compare cricket to any other sport because you can’t play the cricket at same pitch for 6 months. It really takes many types of additional efforts and ground staff.

“Teams will stay at 10 only. If you increase that, it becomes difficult to have the tournament in one go. We are looking at 74 games to begin with for the first two seasons, then 84 and if things permit may be 94 in the fifth year of the media rights cycle, that itself would make it a long enough event. We can’t compare ourselves to football and other sporting leagues around the world as the requirement in cricket is totally different. You can’t play on the same pitches for six months” Dhumal concluded.
