The Australian cricket team will be traveling to India for the three-match ODI series against India. However, as per the reports, Axar Patel won’t be participating in the first two ODI matches of the series. The all-rounder is suffering from a hamstring injury and he won’t be available for at least or at least 10 days.
For team India, Axar Patel has contributed in all the departments, and from this, he has earned a place in his 15-member squad for the ODI World Cup. However, he encountered an unfortunate injury during the match against Bangladesh which led to his absence from the Asia Cup finals against Sri Lanka on September 17. In place of Axar Patel, Washington Sundar was added to the team, and in the series against Australia, Sundar is going to continue with the team.
While talking about the condition of Axar Patel after the final against Sri Lanka, Rohit Sharma revealed that Axar had experienced a tear and his return to the field depends on the speed of his recuperation. He feels Axar Patel will get better before the ODI World Cup.
“Axar, he had a small tear, not sure. Looks like it may be a week or 10 days. We just have to wait and see how his injury progresses because every individual is different. Some guys recover quickly. I am hoping with Axar that’s the case. We will wait and see what happens with him. I am not too sure if he will play the first two games against Australia at home. But we will wait and see,” Rohit was quoted as saying by India Today.
Rohit Sharma also provided confirmation that Shreyas Iyer is currently in good physical condition and there are no major concerns about his fitness.

“He was not available for this game because there were certain parameters kept for him to tick off. Today, I think he completed most of it. 99 percent, he should be okay, as of now. He batted and fielded for long hours before we came today, he was on the ground. So he is looking good at this point in time, I don’t think it’s a worry for us,” Rohit mentioned.
