The head coach of Australian cricket team Andrew McDonald has announced that Travis Head will be unable to participate in the initial part of the 2023 World Cup due to a wrist injury. At the same time, McDonald also confirmed that Head’s wrist injury does not need any surgery to get back to position.
Australia’s World Cup preparations have been disrupted as Travis Head sustained a wrist injury during the fourth ODI against South Africa at Centurion. He left the field during that innings and did not come back to bat and then missed the fifth ODI as well.
After the fifth ODI against the Proteas, McDonald said that the left-handed batter Travis Head will require some time to recover.
He said,”The time frame is still a little bit loose. The good news is he doesn’t require surgery, as it stands at the moment. There will be an extended period of time out and we’ve got to weigh up whether that time falls potentially with an option to carry him through the front half of the World Cup. There’s no doubt he won’t be available for the front half.”
Travis Head displayed an outstanding performance as an opening batsman against the Proteas in the ODI series. He scored an impressive total of 152 runs in four matches with an average of 50.66.
