This Bowler Should Get Chance Ahead Of Shardul Thakur And Prasidh Krishna In ODI World Cup, Says Aakash Chopra

Former Indian cricketer and now a renowned commentator Aakash Chopra has said that India cannot play Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna in the ODI World Cup. The first preference of the team would be Mohammed Siraj.

BCCI has selected Siraj, Krishna and Thakur in the squad for the Asia Cup 2023.The tournament is scheduled to take place in Pakistan and Sri Lanka starting from August 30th. Apart from them, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami are frontline bowlers.

While talking on his Youtube Channel, the former cricketer analyzed the pace attack of the team. He said,”Mohammed Siraj is brilliant. He has had a short career. 43 wickets in 24 matches at an average of 20.7 and an economy rate of 4.78. They are better than both Bumrah and Shami’s numbers. In Asia, his average becomes 16.57 and economy rate 4.51.”

He further added,”His numbers in Asia are better than his numbers outside Asia. So people who were talking about whether Shardul Thakur or Prasidh Krishna can be played instead of Siraj, you cannot play anyone. You will have to play Siraj only. You should play him.”

Siraj has picked 35 wickets in the 17 ODIs he has played for India so far. His average has been around 17, with an economy rate of 4.51.
