India is expected to be one of the top contenders in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The national selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, will soon select the 15-member squad. There are multiple contenders for the wicket-keeper position, with Rishabh Pant being the frontrunner.
Rinku Singh and Shivam Dube will compete for the position of finisher in the team. Former cricketers think that Dube deserves to play for the Indian team because of his performances for both India and Chennai Super Kings.
Shivam has been the highest run-scorer for the five-time champions, registering three half-centuries in the 17th season. However, Rinku did not get many opportunities to showcase his skills in the current edition.
Meanwhile, former India player Varun Aaron doesn’t support Shivam Dube for the T20 World Cup 2024. The cricketer from Jharkhand believes that Rinku is a superior batter compared to Dube.
“Shivam Dube is a safe bet, considering he can play the spinners and fast bowlers with ease. He is a better option than Dube, who often struggles against the fast bowlers. Rinku should be a part of the Playing XI and not Dube,” Varun Aaron said on Star Sports.
