Sunil Narine Announces Retirement From International Cricket, Shares An Emotional Message

The Star West Indian spinner Sunil Narine declared his retirement from international cricket on November 5th. Throughout his career, he participated in 65 ODIs, 51 T20Is, and 6 Test matches for West Indies, taking a total of 165 wickets in various formats. He also contributed to West Indies’ victory in the 2012 T20 World Cup.

Narine shared this news on his official instagram account and wrote,“To all my fans, peers and loved ones: a letter regarding my retirement from international cricket. Eternally grateful 🙏🏽.”

“I appreciate it has been over four years since I last played for the West Indies but today I am announcing my retirement from international cricket. Publicly I am a man of few words but privately there are a few people who have given me unwavering support throughout my career and helped me realise my dream of representing the West Indies and to you I express my deepest gratitude,” Narine was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

“I would like to acknowledge and thank Cricket West Indies, the coaching staff, passionate West Indies fans and of course my teammates who enabled me play at the highest level, in all formats and with some memorable successes, ” he added.

The cricketer has affirmed that he will maintain his participation in franchise cricket on a global scale. Narine marked his international debut in the third ODI against India in Ahmedabad in December 2011. He gained prominence during the 2011 Champions League T20 and played a significant role in Kolkata Knight Riders’ victorious performance in the 2012 IPL. In that season, Narine concluded as the second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament, securing 24 wickets in 15 innings with an average of 13.50.
