Australia’s T20 World Cup Squad: A Closer Look at the Selections

Cricket Australia has now revealed their final 15 for the upcoming T-20 World Cup, with Mitchell Marsh set to lead the side in the upcoming mega
showpiece event. On the other hand, veteran Australian batter Steven Smith failed to find a place in the team. Apart from Smith, Jake Fraser-Mcgurk, who has been in red-hot form in this year’s IPL, also misses the flight to the World Cup.

Cameron Green, along with Ashton Agar, who has not been featured in Australia’s T-20 set-up, have gotten their call-ups for the World Cup. Well, this is the first time that Steven Smith will not be seen in the World Cup for Australia.

On being appointed as the skipper, Mitchell Marsh said, “It’s been an immense privilege to play for my country and now an even greater honor to lead the squad to a World Cup. We have had some strong success in recent times, and I am hopeful that will continue in what looks like a wide-open tournament.”

Steven Smith has been playing for Australia in the previous five editions of the ICC tournaments but has failed to secure a place in the team. In place of Smith, Australia has decided to go with big hitters like Maxwell,Tim David, and Marcus Stoinis in the middle order.
