Michael Clarke’s Harsh Words for Rishabh Pant: A Closer Look

Former Australian great Michael Clarke criticized Rishabh Pant after Delhi’s loss against KKR by 7 wickets. Rishabh Pant backed his decision to bat first in spite of the poor batting show from the capitals, as they were restricted to 153/9.

Kuldeep Yadav (35*) was the highest scorer for the capitals; on the other hand, KKR won the match without breaking a sweat by 7 wickets with 21 deliveries still left to be bowled.

In his interaction with Star Sports, Michael Clarke said, “I am not sure if I agree with the things that were being said after the match. If you win, you get it right, but if you lose, then it’s the other way around. I think they got it wrong by electing to bat at that surface. They were not 10 runs short; I think they were 40–50 runs short.”

“There were nearly 3.3 overs left, and with 7 wickets in hand, KKR would have scored 40 runs more. So according to me, capitals needed 200 after electing to bat first.”

With their sixth loss of the season, Delhi Capitals are currently placed at number 6 in the points table. They will be next seen in action against the Rajasthan Royals on May 7.
