After clinching the series against Australia, India is all set to take on South Africa in a 3-match T20I series, starting on 28th October. The series against Australia was just a blueprint of how India is going to approach the upcoming T20 World Cup.
One of the most debatable topics these days is the wicketkeeper choice of team India which is hanging between Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant.
In the recently concluded Australian series, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma showed full faith in the senior wicket keeper Dinesh Karthik and almost gave a hint that the first wicket-keeper choice in the Indian playing XI for the T20 World Cup will be DK only.
After the win against Australia, Rohit Sharma said that he wanted both Pant and Karthik to enjoy the game before the T20 World Cup. Rohit also marked that both Pant and Karthik were included in the playing XI for the Asia Cup 2022.
While talking after the match, Rohit said, “I wanted both of these guys to have a number of games under their belt before the World Cup. When we went to the Asia Cup both of these guys were in the fray to play all games. But I just feel that Dinesh needs a little more game time. He hardly got to bat (this series). Just maybe three balls. So that’s not enough time. Pant also needs game time obviously. But looking at how this series was it was important for me to just stick to that consistent batting lineup.”
