Shami, Hooda To Miss The T20I Series Against Proteas, Iyer To Make Into The Team

After the T20I series against Australia, India is all set to take on South Africa for another 3-match T20I series. Against Australia, India showed a strong comeback after losing the first game of the series where India clinched the series 2-1 beating them in the final of the 3-match of the T20 series in Hyderabad.

According to a report, Team India will miss some of their prime members in the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. Pacer Mohammad Shami who is out from the team since the series against Australia due to Covid-19 is still under the supervision. Talking about the fitness of Shami, a BCCI official said, “There is no medical update about the time that will take for him to be fully fit but currently it does not look good.”

On the other side, all-rounder Deepak Hooda is also set to miss the series against Proteas due to a back injury. However, the sources suggest that Shreyas Iyer is likely to take his place for the upcoming T20I series.

In all this hustle, BCCI is in no hurry to reconsider a change in the 15-member squad. The first match against South Africa is on September 28 in Thiruvananthapuram.
