Raina Names The Top-scorer And Wicket-taker For The ODI Series Against Australia Before The ODI World Cup

Former Indian cricketer, Suresh Raina has discussed his expectations for the Indian team in the upcoming ODI series against Australia. During a conversation on JioCinema’s ‘Home of the Blues.’ He emphasised that, rather than the series outcome, whether it’s a 3-0 win or a 3-0 loss, the priority should be for the team to face various challenges.

Suresh Raina feels that the series against Australia will prepare men in blue for the ODI World Cup where adaptability is crucial. He said that every player should have their own specific strategy for the ODI World Cup.

Players like Shardul should be encouraged to bowl knuckleball like Zaheer Khan did in 2011 World Cup. Yuvraj Singh’s exceptional performance earned him the Player of the Tournament title. Just as Dhoni took charge with the bat in the final, it’s vital to have leaders who can step up when needed in critical matches.

Australia also talked about the batting death of Australia and said,”Yes, they have a lot of left-right combinations in the batting order. For me, Shardul Thakur will be the X-factor. Definitely, Mohammed Shami. I would pick Shami because he has the skill of swinging his deliveries and bowling yorkers. The Australian side has a lot of left-handers, and it will be interesting to see if Ravindra Jadeja manages to take wickets.”

He further added,”The Indore ground is very small, and Rajkot has a flat track. Also, the Australian side has played a lot in Mohali and hence I believe they will have an upper hand. In these small grounds, even scores of 340-350 will be chaseable and the Indian team will need to play a very strong bowling lineup to defend any sort of total in the World Cup.”
