During the CSK vs PBKS match in IPL 2024, MS Dhoni batted for 11 balls and scored 12 runs. It was the first time in the 17th season that he struggled to connect with the ball. In previous matches, he had a strike rate of over 300 by hitting boundaries. Recently, Dhoni has been delaying his batting until the last few balls of the game, despite requests from teammates.
Former India player Irfan Pathan suggests that the star batter should reconsider his decision and bat for a few more overs. He believes that if Dhoni starts batting from the 16th over onwards, it will benefit the team in the upcoming matches and also please the fans.
While talking to Star Sports, Irfan Pathan said, “No complaints, but I want to see MS Dhoni coming out earlier, probably in the 16th over. I know he doesn’t want to be out early in the innings, but he should consider it. If he starts batting from the 16th over, CSK will benefit as his strokes can lift the scoring rate while batting first, and the team can win matches while batting second.”
Irfan Pathan said, “Even the fans want to see more of him if the current season is his last in the Indian Premier League. I feel that seeing his fitness, Dhoni can continue for many more years with him; you never know what is coming next.”
