ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is going on in Australia and just one match is left to announce the winner of the title. Earlier on Friday ICC nominated the list of nine players that are contesting in winning the few trophies, list has included the name of star Indian batter Virat Kohli, who is also the highest run-scorer in this tournament with 296 runs to his name with four fifties, another Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav who has been outstanding in this world cup, Pakistani all-rounder Shadab Khan and lethal pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikandar Raza, England’s skipper Jos Buttler, opener batter Alex Hales and young all-rounder Sam Curran, and only Sri-Lankan player Wanindu Hasaranga are also there in the list.
Looking at the contender list, English skipper Jos Buttler shared his thought about Suryakumar Yadav and choose him as “player of the tournament”. He stated that SKY played with full freedom in this tournament and his performance was really eye-catching in the star-studded side.
“I think Suryakumar Yadav for me has been someone who has played with extreme freedom. He has been incredibly eye-catching to watch in such a star-studded line-up. To stand out the way he is amazing” said Jos Buttler.
Surya Kumar Yadav is the third most run-getter in the T20 World Cup 2022 with 239 runs to his name. His innings are laced with three fifties and an outstanding strike rate of 189.68.
Jos Buttler also added that Sam Curran and Alex Hales also have a chance to win the award of Player of the tournament.
“Of course, there is a couple of our guys on that list as well Sam Curran and Alex Hales. If they put in a great performance in the finals, they can be the Player of the Tournament for me” he further added.
Sam Curran also performed very well in the tournament with 10 wickets to his name. Whereas, Alex Hales has scored 211 runs in this tournament in the five innings with an amazing average of 52.75. Jos Buttler himself performed exceptionally well in this marquee tournament with 199 runs to his name with a marvelous average of 49.75.

On the other hand, Pakistani Skipper Babar Azam choose his teammate, all-rounder Shadab Khan for the ICC Player of the tournament award. His contribution in this world cup as an all-rounder is amazing. He has taken 10 wickets and scored 75 runs, which includes an impactful knock of 52 runs against South Africa.
“I think it should be Shadab Khan for the way he is playing. While his bowling has been outstanding, his batting also improved quite a bit. His dominating performances in the last three games along with his outstanding fielding makes him a prime contender for the Player of the Tournament” said Babar Azam.
