IPL 2023: Jofra Archer Ruled Out Of IPL 2023, This England Pacer Joins Mumbai Indians For Remaining Season

Mumbai Indians are going to play their next match today against Royal Challengers Bangalore but before that, they made a huge announcement regarding the squad of the team. The star English pacer Jofra Archer who has been struggling with this injury for years has been ruled out of the tournament and in place of him, the MI team has roped in another player from England Chris Jordan to take part in the remaining matches.

Mumbai Indians franchise came on Twitter to announce the replacement. They wrote: “Chris Jordan Joins Mumbai Indians. Chris Jordan will join the MI squad for the rest of the season. Chris replaces Jofra Archer, whose recovery and fitness continue to be monitored by ECB. Jofra will return home to focus on his rehabilitation.”

So far in this tournament, Jofra Archer has played only five matches for Mumbai Indians in which he has got two wickets. The economy of Archer has been slightly high, unlike his ability. He possesses an economy rate of 9.50 in this 16th edition of IPL 2023.

Chris will take the place of Jofra Archer who is being closely monitored by the ECB due to concerns about his recovery and fitness. Jofra will be heading back home to concentrate on his rehabilitation. Archer had recently made a comeback to international cricket after being out of action for nearly two years due to elbow and back injuries.

Jordan was not bought by any team during the auction of IPL 2023. He has previously played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Jordan’s most recent IPL appearance was for the Super Kings in 2022 where he managed to take two wickets in four games.
