BCCI Provided Good News For Indian Women’s Cricket Team

BCCI has given a big gift to the Indian women’s cricket team. Now the women’s cricket team’s support staff will also be recruited permanently, and the head coach and assistant coach will be appointed for the long term. Until now, the coaches and support staff members in the BCCI women’s team were informal, and the tenure of the support staff members ended after a short period.

BCCI’s honorary secretary Jay Shah provided this information from his official Twitter handle. He mentioned that the Indian women’s team had performed well recently and would get full-time supporting staff. Soon BCCI will issue notifications for various posts.

“CWG Silver medalists, Asia Cup champions and finalists at T20 and ODI World Cups, BCCI-Women (Senior Women) have put in one impressive performance after another. It is imperative that we have dedicated, full-fledged support staff to drive the team forward.” Shah wrote in the first tweet.

“We will soon issue advertisements for various positions for Team India (Senior Women) support staff. Best coaches will be roped in to help our players realize their full potential and achieve excellence on and off the field.” Shah further added in the tweet.

As per the BCCI constitution, the head coach is selected by the Cricket Advisory Committee, while the selectors choose the support staff. However, this rule is not strictly followed regarding the women’s team’s support staff batting, fielding and bowling coaches.

A BCCI source said, “All coaches will be given long-term contracts, and this will not be a temporary arrangement as we have seen in the past. This will give a lot of stability to the team.” The decision was taken in the virtual meeting of the Apex Council on Sunday.

The Indian women’s team played without a head coach in the T20 World Cup in February. The senior women’s team is yet to win a World Cup, and streamlining the coaching process will be the first step in preparation for the next World Cup.

In the domestic season for the 2023-2027 cycle, international and domestic media rights were also part of the agenda, but no concrete decision was taken on the subject.

BCCI will have high hopes for media rights for the 2023-2027 cycle after earning a windfall of Rs 48,390 crore from IPL media rights. With Viacom’s entry into the ecosystem of Indian cricket, it will be a three-way fight between Star and Sony. The BCCI made huge profits by selling the broadcast and digital rights of IPL separately and is expected to follow the same for international matches at home.
