Pakistan women’s cricket team is set to host South Africa women’s team for the first time in a limited-overs series in September. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that South Africa will play three T20Is followed by three ODIs during their tour of Pakistan. The matches are scheduled for between 1st and 14th September, with all the games being held at the National Stadium in Karachi.
The South African team will arrive in Pakistan on the 27th of August, marking their return to play a bilateral series in the country. The tour will begin with a three-match T20I series from 1st to 5th September, followed by the ODI series from 8th to 14th September. The ODIs will also be a part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, adding further significance to the matches.
The Pakistan women’s team currently holds second on the ICC Women’s Championship table, while South Africa is sixth. The series presents an opportunity for both teams to earn crucial points and improve their rankings in the championship.
Pakistan’s captain, Nida Dar, expressed excitement and anticipation for the upcoming series. She emphasized the significance of the matches in gaining experience and exposure for the team and closing the gap with the leading teams. Dar is optimistic about the busy schedule ahead and looks forward to the challenges ahead for her team.
On the series, Pakistan skipper Nida Dar said, as quoted by ICC, “The next 12 months will be incredibly busy for the Pakistan women’s cricket team, and I look forward to the upcoming assignments with excitement and anticipation. These matches will contribute significantly to our endeavors to gain experience and exposure and narrow the gap with the front-runners.”
South Africa’s captain, Sune Luus, also expressed her excitement about touring Pakistan. She acknowledged the competitive nature of the Pakistani team, especially when playing on their home ground. Luus believes the series will be closely contested and looks forward to the challenge.

South Africa captain Sune Luus was also excited about touring Pakistan, stating, “I am extremely excited to be back to play a bilateral series in Pakistan. Pakistan is always a very competitive and dangerous side in their backyard, so I feel it will be a good series.”
The ODIs being a part of the ICC Women’s Championship, hold great importance for women’s cricket, as it provides an opportunity to earn points and qualify for the ICC Women’s World Cup. Both teams are eager to showcase their skills and compete at the highest level during the series.
