Hyderabad Cricket Association Denied To Provide Enough Police Security For Consecutive Matches In 2023 ODI World Cup

The announcement of the schedule for the upcoming ODI World Cup was postponed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In the previous few editions of this prestigious tournament, the match schedules were disclosed over a year in advance. After the BCCI and ICC eventually unveiled the schedule for the forthcoming 50-over World Cup, a total of nine matches were later rescheduled due to various reasons.

Now the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has indicated that the local police might not be able to ensure sufficient security for matches arranged on consecutive days that also includes the match of Pakistan. On October 9, the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium is scheduled to host a match between New Zealand and Netherlands. On the very next day Pakistan and Sri Lanka will lock their horns at the same venue. According to the HCA, the BCCI did not inform them before modifying the schedule for the tournament.

Earlier the match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was scheduled for October 12. However, due to the alteration of the India-Pakistan match from October 15 to October 14, Babar Azam’s team is now getting a suitable interval between the two matches.

The much-anticipated encounter between India and Pakistan in Ahmedabad was rescheduled to October 14 from its original date of October 15. This change was made due to a clash with the first day of the Navratri festival, which is grandly celebrated in Gujarat.
