Star Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been out of the tournament for months. The player injured his leg while having a party at his friend’s house. Now the Australian coach Andrew McDonald has given an update regarding this hard-hitting player.
McDonald said that If the all-rounder gets fit in time, he might play in the upcoming ODI series against India. Due to a leg injury, Maxwell was unable to participate in the current Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He is, however, making a good recovery from his injury and has already shown signs of return on the field.
The head coach feels that Maxwell would have been under a lot of stress during the Test series against India. However, the all-rounder might make it into the ODI squad of Australia vs India. The first ODI of the series will be played on March 17.
While talking to cricket.com.au. McDonald said, “If he (Maxwell) gets through everything that he needs to then he will be a starter for that one-day series (against India that follows the Tests). Anything forward of that will be discussed.”
Maxwell also talked about his injury and explained how he overcame that hard time.
“It’s been a pretty long journey over the last 3 and half months, so a lot of early morning sessions, gym, rehab, pool sessions, physio. To feel like I am at the back-end of that now and able to play some cricket is something I’m proud of,” Maxwell was quoted as saying by Fox Sports.
