Former Carabian legend Ian Bishop was thrilled to see Shivam Dube’s name in the T20 World Cup squad of Team India. Ian Bishop feels that the kind of form that Dube has shown in this year’s IPL is the major reason behind his selection in the T20 World Cup.
Shivam Dube has been playing match-winning knocks for his franchise, batting at number 4 or 5. Shivam Dube was also part of India’s T-20 squad, which played against Afghanistan, and won the player of the series award for scoring 124 runs with the bat.
In his interaction with Star Sports, Ian Bishop explained how Shivam Dube plays a crucial role in Team India’s set-up.
Ian Bishop said, “When I was picking the squad, it was Rohit, Bumrah, Shivam Dube, and twelve others, and I didn’t care who the other players were. Because when you’re talking form, Shivam Dube has been changing the result of the match almost on every occasion when he has come to bat this season. So if there is one other guy who had to be on that plane other than Rohit and Bumrah, it has to be Shivam Dube. Given the form that he is in, not only in the IPL but also previously in international cricket,. I think it will be a travesty if he travels to the West Indies and does not play from the very first game.”
