England’s upcoming tour is more than just a Test match; it’s a cricket extravaganza. Along with the women’s Test match, there will be three thrilling T20Is to keep fans on the edge of their seats.

The T20Is are scheduled to be held at the Wankhede Stadium on December 6, 9, and 10. The back-to-back weekend games are designed to ensure maximum crowd engagement. As for the Test match at the DY Patil Stadium, you can catch all the action starting December 14. The final dates are undergoing some finishing touches and will soon be unveiled.

For many players, getting the opportunity to play a Test match in India is a dream come true. Kate Cross, the England seamer in India for a couple of weeks now, shares her insights. “I’ve been in India for a couple of weeks now, and you can see that girls have role models in that team now.”

England’s women cricketers last toured India in 2019. The tour included an ODI series where they lost 2-1 at the Wankhede Stadium. However, they turned the tables in the T20I series, winning 3-0 in Guwahati. Kate Cross recalls, “We played in front of over 12,000 people in Guwahati.” The chance to return to India as an England team holds a special place in their hearts.

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) has played a significant role in the growth of women’s cricket. Following the excitement generated by the Ashes series, there is a growing appetite for women’s cricket in India. Effective advertising is the key to drawing in large crowds, and when done right, people will flock to watch these incredible athletes in action.

Maharashtra is quickly becoming a hub for Indian women’s cricket. The BCCI staged the entire first season of the Women’s Premier League at two venues in the state: the Brabourne Stadium, adjacent to the Wankhede, and the DY Patil Stadium, where our upcoming Test match will be held.

After England’s tour, it’s Australia’s turn to travel to India. According to Code Sports, their tour’s Test and ODI games will be hosted at the Wankhede, with the T20Is scheduled at the DY Patil.

England is expected to arrive in India at the start of December. However, a few players might join a day or two later, thanks to their involvement in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) final, scheduled for December 2. Remarkably, 15 English players are participating in the WBBL, with at least one player from every club.
