The women’s Premier League is started, giving full entertainment to cricket fans. But as the league started, few players got injured, which has been a major blow for the franchise. Gujarat Giant’s skipper Beth Monney was injured in the first match against Mumbai on 4th March, and after that, she couldn’t play any matches. Now the news coming from the camp of Gujarat Giants is that they signed South African Batter Laura Wolvaardt as the replacement of their injured skipper Beth Mooney for the remaining season.
The Gujarat Giants picked Mooney on 2 Cr, and now she is out of the tournament due to a knee injury she got in the very first match of WPL. She is the major blow for Gujarat Giants because she is a talented wicketkeeper batter and a world-class leader. In her absence, Indian all-rounder Sneh Rana is leading the team.
Laura Wolvaardt was playing in Pakistan for the PCB’s Women’s League exhibition matches. She was part of the Super Woman team, and now she was released by her team. She scored 53* runs in just 36 balls in PCB’s Women’s League exhibition match against Amazons and helped her team win by eight wickets. In place of her, Super Woman signed Sune Luus for the rest of the matches.
“I want to thank the PCB for this opportunity to play in the Women’s League exhibition matches. It has been an incredibly short journey, but I have loved the experience. The team has been amazing, and I have felt so welcoming,” Wolvaardt said while leaving.
“I wish both sides the best of luck with the rest of the series. I am sure both sides will strive hard, do well, and learn a lot from the experience they will get from the matches. I cannot wait to return to Pakistan in September with South Africa’s national women’s team and learn more about this amazing country,” she further added.
