IND vs AUS, ODI Series: This Star Batter Ruled Out Of The Series, Confirms The Fielding Coach

After gaining victory in the four-match Test series of the Border-Gavaskar trophy India will now face Australia in a three-match ODI series. The first match of the series will be played on March 17, Wankhede but before it, the team has got a major mishap.

Indian star middle-order Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the ODI series. Shreyas Iyer missed a major portion of the fourth Test match which happened in Ahmedabad and now the batter will be unable to participate in the three-match ODI series due to a back injury.

The 28-year-old reported a similar issue after the ODI series against Sri Lanka earlier this year. After the injury, he was not marked fit to participate in India’s ODI series against New Zealand. As for his safety, he was subsequently sent to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) located in Bangalore. After spending some days in the NCA, Shreyas Iyer was then permitted by the BCCI medical team to participate in the Test series against Australia.

During the pre-series Press conference, India’s fielding coach T. Dilip confirmed the news regarding Iyer’s unavailability for the ODI Series against the series.

T Dilip said, “Injuries are a part and parcel of the game. We have the best medical facilities and they are well-equipped, and our medical team and NCA medical team are in coordination.”

He further added,” Regarding Shreyas, he’s been ruled out of this series. And further updates, we’ll let you know as and when we know it.”

Earlier it was informed that Rohit Sharma will also miss the first ODI in Mumbai and in absence of Hitman, Hardik Pandya will be captaining India in the series opener.
