Varun Chakravarthy’s Take on the Impact Player Rule: A Wake-Up Call for Bowlers

KKR have beaten the Delhi Capitals at home by seven wickets. With this victory over the Capitals, the Knights have secured second place in the points table with 12 points.

This was one of those matches in which no team across the innings scored 200 runs. KKR’s spin magician Varun Chakravarthy was named man of the match for his exceptional performance with the ball picking up 3/16.

In his post-match presentation, Varun Chakravarthy spoke about the impact player rule and how he feels that bowlers need to stop complaining about the rule once it is made.

In his post-match presentation, Varun Chakravarthy said, “Sometimes we need to accept the fact that IPL has become different and we need to move on. The impact player rule was there last season as well, but the teams have used the rule to their advantage in this year’s IPL. The bowlers should stop complaining about the rules and should take up the challenge that lies in front of them.”

On being asked about KKR’s approach to bowling after being knocked out by the Punjab Kings in spite of getting 262 on board,.

Varun Chakravarthy said, “The wickets have become flat, and with the dew coming in the second innings, it is not very easy to bowl. However, in the first innings, there was little help for spinners as the wicket was dry.”

“The last encounter was a hard pill to swallow. We had our talks with management, and Shahrukh Khan came personally to talk to me, saying, “What is happening in the IPL? Don’t take it personally. Don’t ever doubt yourself.”
