During the ongoing Ranji Trophy final against Vidarbha at the Wankhede Stadium, rising Mumbai talent Musheer Khan has surpassed a record previously held by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.
The younger sibling of India cricketer Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer Khan displayed a composed innings by scoring a century in Mumbai’s second innings of the title clash. This achievement made him the youngest batsman from his team to score a hundred in a Ranji final.
Tendulkar, at the age of 21, etched his name in history by scoring a memorable 140 runs against Punjab in the 1994-95 Ranji Trophy final. This match, held at the Wankhede Stadium, saw Mumbai (then Bombay) declaring their first innings at a colossal 690/6 in 168.4 overs.

Tendulkar’s remarkable performance continued in the second innings of that match, where he also scored a century. Despite the final ending in a draw, Bombay was declared the winner based on their first-innings lead.
Musheer accomplished this remarkable feat at the age of 19 years and 14 days when he completed a couple of runs off Vidarbha pacer Yash Thakur, reaching the milestone of a century after facing 255 deliveries. Interestingly, Tendulkar was in attendance at the venue on Day 3 to witness the proceedings as Mumbai continued to dominate the contest.
Musheer has had an impressive start to the year, having previously represented India at the ICC U-19 World Cup in South Africa. He played a crucial role in his team’s unbeaten run to the final, contributing significantly with the bat. Musheer scored a total of 360 runs in the tournament, placing him second in the list of highest run-scorers, just behind his captain Uday Saharan, who finished with 397 runs.
