Not Kuldeep Yadav But This Player Should Have Got “Player Of The Match” In The 1st ODI Against WI

Former Indian opener and now a star commentator Aakash Chopra has said that for him Ravindra Jadeja was the player of the match rather than Kuldeep Yadav.

In the first ODI match held in Barbados, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first. However, they struggled against the formidable bowling performance of Jadeja who took three wickets for 37 runs, and Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav impressed everyone with four wickets for just six runs. On the back of exceptional bowling by the spinners, the hosts were bowled out on a total of 114 runs.

In response, Rohit Sharma and his team comfortably chased down the target with five wickets in hand and in 22.5 overs. With this, team India has taken a lead of 1-0 in the three-match ODI series.

While having a conversation on his Youtube Channel, Aakash Chopra said,”Who was the Player of the Match? If you would have seen the match, you would know it was Kuldeep Yadav because he bowled only three overs, picked up four wickets and conceded just six runs. Well done Kuldeep Yadav, you did very well, but my Player of the Match is Ravindra Jadeja.”

He further added,”You might say – why? According to me, there should be some parameters or criteria for the Player of the Match. Ravindra Jadeja picked up three wickets – Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell and Romario Shepherd. His wickets were proper big wickets.”

The former opener said that Ravindra not only dismissed three main batters but also contributed for the team with his bat.

“They were Nos. 5, 6 and 7. It is believed that batters at those numbers bat better than Nos. 8 to 11. In the end, he also scored an unbeaten 16 and if he too had got out, (Virat) Kohli would have got to bat. Just think about it, that could have also happened.”
