MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli Or Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul Copies Whose Captaincy Style? Player Himself Gives The Answer

Indian top order batter KL Rahul is making his comeback to team India after a long gap and he has been appointed as the captain of the side for the Zimbabwe Tour.

Rahul is undoubtedly a fantastic batter but his captaincy till now is not that admirable. However, this year’s IPL turned out to be in favour of Rahul and his team Lucknow Supergiants made into the playoffs.

Rahul is someone who has played a lot of matches under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma and when asked about the captaincy pressure after coming from an injury he has a unique opinion on it. He said that he does not need to copy someone’s style or technique, he believes in originality.

KL Rahul interacted with media ahead of the first game and when asked about the captaincy challenges coming straightforward to the team he said, “I can’t go out there and be someone else. Then I won’t be fair to myself, to the team, or the game. I try and be myself and let the other players be themselves as they want.”

“Jo Naam aapne lie (the names that you’ve taken) I can’t even compare myself with these guys (MSD), their numbers and achievement are far greater in terms of what they have done for the country, and I don’t think any name could be taken in the same breath,” he reminded everyone.
“… And this is my second series as captain, and obviously, I have played under him and learned a lot from him as a player. As you have been playing for so many years, you will pick some good qualities from these guys, Rahul further added.”

India is on the Zimbabwe tour for the 3-match ODI series. For this, many senior players have been rested and KL Rahul’s team will play the first match of the series on the 18th of August in Harare.
