“If Virat kohli had played…”The Bold Stand Against Hypocrisy: Irfan Pathan and Mohammad Kaif Speak Up, Citing SRH Star’s Case

Team India’s batting legend Virat Kohli has been in top-notch form this season. The star batter has been consistently scoring runs for RCB in this year’s IPL. Yet there are many debates regarding the strike rate of Virat Kohli.

However, former Indian cricketers Irfan Pathan and Mohammad Kaif supported Virat Kohli and slammed critics for showing a double standard, giving an example of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batter Travis Head.

Travis Head has been doing some sensational hitting in the ongoing IPL season. The batter has a strike rate of 194 and has scored over 396 runs.

However, in the match against the Rajasthan Royals, Travis Head was far from his usual approach and batted a bit slow as per his standard. The Southpaw scored 58 of 44 deliveries at a strike rate of 131.

Speaking about Head’s knock Irfan Pathan said that if Virat Kohli had played this kind of innings, there would have been talks regarding his strike rate for so many days.

Irfan Pathan said, “According to his ability, you have never seen him play like this. No matter what you say, there was good bowling and everything, but every cricketer should be treated equally.”

Mohammad Kaif, who was part of the same discussion panel, also slammed critics for showing double standards. Mohammad Kaif said, “You are right; if this were Virat Kohli, I can guarantee that people would have said only 58 runs in 44 balls. What is this? They would say it is low, and there would be debates about his strike rate. But I believe that this was a good innings by Head.”

Irfan Pathan also supported Virat Kohli by saying that he has been carrying the whole burden of the batting unit alone on his shoulders, especially when the team is placed at the bottom of the points table.
