Matheesha Pathirana And Theekshana Will Play For Chennai Against Punjab Or Not? Here Is An Update

While there are concerns about injuries within the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team, there’s good news about the health of two of their overseas bowlers, Matheesha Pathirana and Mahesh Theekshana.

Both Sri Lankan bowlers returned home to complete their visa procedures for the USA and now they are set to rejoin CSK soon as the crucial stage of IPL 2024 comes near. In the last match against Punjab Kings, CSK lost the battle by seven wickets.

SLC has instructed all Sri Lankan cricketers participating in the IPL to return to Sri Lanka and complete their visa procedures for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the USA.

Matheesha Pathirana, Maheesh Theekshana, Dushmantha Chameera, and Nuwan Thushara have landed in Colombo to handle their visa procedures.

After having their visa interviews in Colombo yesterday, it’s uncertain when the cricketers will go back to their IPL teams to resume playing in the tournament. However, a Sri Lankan athlete manager has reassured that Pathirana and Theekshana will promptly return to the CSK camp after completing their visa process. It’s anticipated that the other Sri Lankan cricketers will also rejoin their IPL teams once they have obtained their US visas for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

However, the Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming has given a huge update regarding the injury of Deepak Chahar.

“Deepak Chahar doesn’t look good. Initial feeling wasn’t great. So we are waiting for more positive report. Physio and doctors will have a look. Sri Lankan boys are off to get visas. So we are hoping that their process is smooth. And we get them back for our next game up north (at Dharamshala),” Stephen Fleming said.

“Richard Gleeson was good, he was positive. Tushar Deshpande got flu, so we had to make a few changes today, which is a bit unusual. But again that’s part of it and we have got resources. It’s just they haven’t got time to be comfortable about their roles and us to be comfortable with the game plan that we are struggling with,” Fleming added.
