Md. Kaif Criticized NCA Management, After Big Update On Jasprit Bumrah’s Injury

Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif has criticized VVS Laxman and his National Cricket Academy (NCA) team for lacking clarity on Bumrah’s injury. Kaif stated that there is a flaw in the NCA system. And the NCA president should take care of it.

The concerns of BCCI and veteran cricketers have increased due to the players’ injuries. The NCA team didn’t handle many important players like Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer’s injury seriously. Thus, these two players made several comebacks after rehabilitation but couldn’t keep their injuries away from themselves and are on the verge of missing the biggest ICC event of this year.

India’s star fast bowler could not participate in the T20 World Cup and the Border-Gavaskar series. Now playing in the World Test Championship’s final and the 2023 ODI World Cup is also impossible. However, the BCCI said he would be fit before the ODI World Cup.

Kaif criticized Bumrah for staying in NCA for three more months. Talking to a sports channel, Kaif said, “I have seen the flaw in the system. Players have been selected for the team and then dropped before the match, citing not being fully fit. Along with Bumrah, It happened recently, and even Mohammed Shami has done it many times. So NCA coaches, physios, VVS Laxman and his team must handle these situations. Because it is unfair to the cricket lovers expecting Bumrah to play, I think this is very serious, and the management should not take it lightly.”

“There should be transparency, and players should be properly tested before being declared fit. A player is either fit or will need 10-20 days. As a Bumrah fan, I want to know what his injury is, what is his recovery time.”

It will be interesting to see if Bumrah returns to the squad for the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup later this year.
