Virender Sehwag chose not to discuss MS Dhoni’s decision to bat at number nine in the PBKS vs CSK IPL 2024 match. Despite Chennai needing to score quickly, Dhoni did not come out to bat early and the defending champions managed to post a total of 167 runs in 20 overs at the loss of nine wickets.
Harshal Patel got him out for a golden duck, leading to criticism from Navjot Singh Sidhu, Irfan Pathan, and Harbhajan Singh. However, Virender Sehwag opted not to address Dhoni’s batting position.
While talking to Star Sports, Sehwag said, “I have already spoken about his batting slot. There is no point in discussing it, as he will not change. We all know he should bat early in the innings, but I don’t understand why he is not promoting himself in the batting order.”
He further added,”I haven’t spoken to him and there is no one who can confirm about the ongoing rumours on his knee injury. I don’t want to talk about it. Ruturaj Gaikwad is the only person who can reveal the real reason behind Dhoni’s refusal to promote himself.”
Chennai made 167 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs, and they limited Punjab to 139 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Ravindra Jadeja received the Player of the Match award for his performance both with the bat and the ball.
