Recently Punjab Kings fired former Indian leg-spin wizard Anil Kumble from the post of Head Coach. It was a rumor that the franchise might go with Eoin Morgan as the head coach however, according to a strong report Trevor Bayliss is all set to become the new head coach of the team.
This 59-Year old guy has a strong background as a coach. The most prolific is Egland winning its maiden ICC World Cup Trophy under his coaching. He was the coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders when they lifted the trophy in the year 2012 and 2014 under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir. He also served Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL.
While talking to PTI, a source close to PBKS said, “The team has decided to go ahead with Trevor who is among the best in the business and has a proven record. The management is hoping that the team goes on to win the title under his guidance.”
Under Kumble, Punjab Kings played three seasons and failed to make it into the playoffs. The Punjab franchise is yet to win an IPL title and 2014 is the only year when they enjoyed playing the final against KKR.
The report also says that the paperwork is yet to be done between Trevor Bayliss and Punjab Kings management. Before a week, a discussion was going over Mayank Agarwal and PBKS partition but according to the latest report the franchise believes in the quality of the Mayank and they will give one more chance to this player as the captain of the team.
