Exploring the Story Behind Virat Kohli’s T20 World Cup Inquiry and BCCI’s Response

Not more than two weeks are left for India’s squad selection for the World Cup. Recently, BCCI had a chat with skipper Rohit Sharma. Coach Rahul Dravid and Chairman of Selectors Ajit Agarkar. A number of topics were put forward for discussion, including the roles of Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli.

There has been debate over Kohli’s strike rate in the IPL, and Hardik Pandya’s bad bowling performance has further added to the cause.
As the meeting of BCCI officials took place, there were reports that Kohli wanted clarity over his role for the upcoming T20 World Cup. As Yashasvi Jaiswal is not in the best of his rhythm, Virat Kohli has been asked to open innings with Rohit Sharma.

Virat Kohli has been opening for RCB in the IPL for a long time. The selection committee feels that Virat Kohli would be the best opener for the team.  On the other hand, Shubman Gill, who’s been in good form in this year’s IPL, is set to be India’s third opener.

When it comes to opening the innings in the shorter format of the game, Virat Kohli has been able to do well consistently and has a strike rate of 161.

The selection committee further backed players like Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh for batting in the middle order.
