After The Crushing Defeat, Ben Stokes Raised Questions On Umpiring, Made This Demand From ICC

Team India defeated England by a huge margin of 434 runs in the third test match of the series in Rajkot in an ongoing five-match test series against England.

This was England’s second-biggest margin of defeat in terms of runs in their test history. However, during the match, Stokes was not convinced by some of the LBW calls made by umpires, as it surprised both him and coach Brendon McCullum.

The “umpire’s call” in the DRS system is a factor that has been debated around in the cricketing world for quite a long time, with several cricketing experts wanting the ICC to do something with it. Stokes took the example of Zak Crawley’s LBW dismissal in the second inning to Jasprit Bumrah, suggested the same, and even had a chat with the technology maker’s people to understand the scope of the error.

England never had reviews going their way in the Rajkot Test, which made Stokes feel there are parts of the DRS system that need to change. He wants the ‘umpire’s call’ to be the first one.

The England captain also stated that he isn’t putting the blame for his team’s loss on the technology but wants the DRS system to be more robust.

Team India will take on England for the fourth test match of the series on February 23 in Ranchi.
