RCB’s Coach Reflects on the Void Left by Will Jacks against CSK

Will Jacks, RCB’s star batsman, will not be available for Saturday’s pivotal IPL 2024 match against CSK at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, according to assistant coach Malolan Rangarajan. Although Jacks, 25, joined the RCB playing XI later than expected, he had an immediate effect. The English batsman scored 230 runs at a strike rate of 175.57 and an average of 32.85 in just 8 games.

He has joined the England national squad in order to prepare for the T20 World Cup, thus he won’t be playing for the RCB team any longer. Along with Jacks, the British team will play Pakistan in a four-match Twenty20 International series that begins on May 22 at Leeds’ Headingley Stadium.

“Will Jacks will be missed, but much more so will be the intention behind his play. During the pre-match press conference, Rangarajan stated, “There’s no denying how impactful he was.”

Although Rangarajan did not specifically identify Jacks’ replacement, he did imply that Glenn Maxwell might return to the starting lineup.

“You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out who enters. It is not my place to mention his name, so I won’t. However, we are pleased that there are excellent and seasoned options available; these are individuals who have won numerous competitions all around the world,” Rangarajan continued.

RCB, who are now ranked seventh in the standings, must defeat CSK by 18 runs or chase down a target in 18.1 overs in order to place in the top 4 and go to the playoffs.
