“499 to 500 people came and went quietly…” Ashwin’s Wife Wrote An Emotional Post, After Emergency Leave

Team India has been blessed by some of the finest players to play the game out of the many stars in the Indian cricket galaxy; one of them is Ravi Ashwin.

The veteran off-spinner recently claimed a remarkable achievement, becoming the only second bowler after Anil Kumble to pick up 500 wickets for team India in the longest format of the game.

However, as soon as Ashwin picked his 500th wicket in the test match on day two of the Rajkot test, he had to fly back to his home due to a family emergency, because of which he was out of action with immediate effect.
Ashwin rejoined the Indian test squad on the fourth day of the test match and picked up his 501st wicket in the test format.

However, after the match, Ashwin’s wife Preeti posted a long emotional note on social media. “We chased the 500 to Hyderabad; it did not happen. Than in Vizag Vizag, it did not happen. So I just bought a ton of sweets and gave them to everyone at home between 499 to 500 people came and went quietly. It didn’t. A lot happened between 500 and 501. The longest 48 hours of our lives,” Ashwin’s wife, Prithi, wrote in a post on Instagram.
“But this is about the 500. And the 499 before that.

What a phenomenal achievement! What a phenomenal guy. I am insanely proud of you, Ravi Ashwin. We love you!” she added.

Ashwin had to withdraw his name from team India’s playing 11 in between the third test match because of a family emergency; however, the exact reason for his withdrawal has not been known till now.
Team India will play in the fourth test match of the series against England in Ranchi on February 23.
