During their recent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya was fined Rs. 30 lakh for his team’s slow over-rate.
The IPL statement reads, “As it was his team’s third offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to a minimum over rate offense, Pandya was fined Rs. 30 lakh and banned from playing the team’s next match.”
“The rest of the members of the playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either Rs.12 lakh or 50 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.”
Nicholas Pooran’s exceptional innings of 75 runs off just 28 balls was instrumental in Lucknow Super Giants setting a challenging target. Despite a 45-minute rain delay, they successfully defended their total and secured an 18-run victory over the Mumbai Indians, despite strong performances from Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir, who both scored half-centuries.
Pooran showcased his prowess by smashing a half-century off just 19 balls, including eight sixes. With this remarkable display, he became the highest six-hitter in IPL 2024, with a total of 36 sixes. His aggressive batting lifted Lucknow Super Giants from a score of 69/3 in 10 overs to surpass the 200-run mark.
