2007 T20I World Cup Finale Here Says GoodBye To International Cricket

The hero of the 2007 T20 world Cup finale held in South Africa, Joginder Sharma has said goodbye to international cricket after years. The player was not playing cricket for a long time and he was serving the Haryana Police.

In an ODI match against Bangladesh, the bowler made his debut for the national team in 2004. He will always be remembered, though, as the bowler who outplayed Pakistan’s Misbah-ul-Haq in the tense match that decided the 2007 T20 World Cup final in Johannesburg, helping India win the tournament for the first time.

The former Indian cricketer announced his retirement on his official Instagram where he wrote, “Today, with immense gratitude and humility, I announce my retirement from all forms of international and domestic cricket. My journey from 2002-2017 has been the most wonderful years of my life for it was an honor representing India at the highest level of the sport.”

In addition to announcing his retirement, he made a suggestion that he would be looking into other options including the commercial side of sports.

Joginder Sharma said, “I am excited to announce that I will be exploring new opportunities in the world of cricket and the business side of it, where I will also continue to participate in the sport that I love and challenge myself in a new and different environment. I believe that this is the next step in my journey as a cricketer and I look forward to his new chapter in my life,” shared Joginder in his post.

Joginder played for the Men in Blue in four T20Is and as many ODIs, taking four and one wickets in each of the two white-ball formats. He took 297 wickets in 77 First-Class cricket matches, with his best bowling stats of 8/24 in an inning.
