Former Indian spin wizard Anil Kumble selected Kuldeep Yadav as India’s main spinner for the T20 World Cup, citing his wrist-spinning ability as a key advantage. The BCCI announced India’s 15-player squad for the tournament, which featured four spinners in total. The T20 World Cup will take place in the USA and the West Indies is set to start on June 02.
In a chat with Jio Cinema, veteran Indian spinner Kumble shared his opinion that Kuldeep should be part of the starting XI for India’s inaugural match against Ireland. Kumble emphasized the unpredictable pitch conditions in the USA, hosting a tournament of such magnitude for the first time.
”I don’t know who will be starting in the first game against Ireland. Kuldeep for sure. I don’t know what the pitch conditions are. I don’t think any Indian team has played in the US other than in Fort Lauderdale. So it all depends on the pitch conditions,” Kumble said.
”I guess Kuldeep probably will be the number one spinner in that sense because he’s your wrist spinner. I’m sure there’ll be one wrist spinner who will play,” said Kumble, who expects spinners to play a major role in the tournament.”
India captain Rohit Sharma is totally happy after the inclusion of four spinners in the name of Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel. Among these four spinners, two are pure all-rounders which will give extra strength to the team.
