“We will begin constructing a new…”: Sourav Ganguly Made Big Announcement For West Bengal

Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly is embarking on a new and ambitious journey as an industrialist. He recently unveiled plans to establish a state-of-the-art steel factory in Salboni, Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal. Ganguly’s foray into the world of business and industry is a significant departure from his illustrious cricketing career. It represents his commitment to contributing to the economic growth of his home state.

Ganguly’s announcement came during a delegation-led visit to Spain and Dubai, led by West Bengal’s Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee. The cricketing icon shared his vision for the steel factory, stating that construction would commence shortly, with the goal of making the facility operational within five to six months.

During his address at the ‘Bengal Global Business Summit’ in Madrid, Ganguly expressed his optimism about the project’s timeline, emphasizing that their team was well-prepared to complete the state-of-the-art facility within a year. This speedy execution reflects Ganguly’s dedication and determination to contribute to West Bengal’s industrial landscape.

“As we begin construction on a third steel mill in Bengal, let me just take this opportunity to congratulate the chief minister. Many of us think that I merely participated in the sport. We began as a modest steel mill in 2007. We will begin constructing a new steel plant in Medinipore in five to six months,” Ganguly said.

The venture into the steel industry represents a new chapter in Ganguly’s life, one that follows a family legacy of entrepreneurship. He fondly remembered his grandfather’s efforts in initiating the family’s business journey some 50 to 55 years ago. Ganguly’s decision to invest in a steel mill not only demonstrates his commitment to his ancestral roots but also showcases his faith in West Bengal’s potential for industrial growth.

“I must say this is from experience, not because I am with the chief minister; the whole process just took four to five months to complete,” he added.

What makes Ganguly’s venture even more noteworthy is the supportive stance of the West Bengal state government. His decision to invest in the state aligns with the government’s mission to encourage business development and economic prosperity. Ganguly’s journey from cricketing legend to industrialist underscores the state’s commitment to fostering an environment conducive to entrepreneurship and economic growth.

“The rest of the world has always been welcomed to do business in this state. The CM is in this nation right now for that exact reason. The government’s intentions to work for the young and the state’s growth are extremely obvious,” he concluded.

Sourav Ganguly’s transition from the cricket pitch to the boardroom is a testament to his versatility and leadership skills. Just as he once led the Indian cricket team to numerous victories, he now takes on the challenge of leading a business venture that holds promise for the state’s economic development. As construction on the steel factory begins, all eyes will be on Ganguly, eagerly awaiting the success of his latest endeavor.
