Backing the Captain: Andrew McDonald’s shows Confidence in Marsh’s Fitness ahead of the Upcoming T20 world Cup

Australian Head Coach Andrew McDonald backs Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh to regain his full fitness ahead of the T20 World Cup. Marsh earlier pulled out of the IPL due to Hamstring reprieve. He has been on the road to recovery since then.

Marsh joined a few members of the Australia squad who are not in the IPL for a training camp in Brisbane. Another camp before the Australian team leaves for Carabian is set to take place in some time.

Marsh, who missed the first camp, has been given fitness clearance to participate in the camp and bat in the nets. Andrew MacDonald also spoke about the bowling fitness of Mitchell Marsh, saying that the all-rounder will return to bowl once the tournament approaches.

Andrew MacDonald said, “You probably won’t see him bowl in the next couple of weeks here. It’ll probably happen the week before we leave. And then he’ll be able to ramp that up when we’re over there. We’ll be able to cherry-pick the moments during the tournament where he’ll be useful with the ball. We’ve got some all-around depth in the squad, which gives us good coverage anyway.

Speaking about the recovery of Mitchell Marsh, Andrew MacDonald said, “It was probably a little slower than expected on the back of the hamstring. But we’ve got plenty of time now that he has been ruled out of the IPL. The first game is just short of a month away now. There is ample time for him to get ready. But it’s really positive to see the skipper on the park.”
