Left-handed batter Tilak Varma has made an outstanding beginning to his international career and emerged as the top scorer in the ongoing T20I series versus the West Indies. The 20-year-old batsman has gathered 139 runs from three inningg with an impressive average of 69.50 and a strike rate of 139. His remarkable performance has garnered widespread admiration for him. Star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin also praised him for his outstanding batting skills and claimed him as a potential candidate for 2023 ODI World Cup.
Now captain of team India Rohit Sharma has shared his views on the young Tilak Varma and was greatly impressed by him. It’s worth mentioning that Varma made an impact during the IPL 2022 while playing for the Mumbai Indians under Sharma’s captaincy. He gathered 397 runs for Mumbai Indians in that season.
According to Hindustan Times, Rohit Sharma quoted,”He looks very promising. I have seen him for two years now, he has got the hunger, and that is the most important thing. In him I can see, for the age that he is of, he is quite matured. He knows his batting so well. When I speak with him I understand that the boy knows his batting – where he has to hit, what he has to do in that period.”
While talking about his chances to play in the ODI World Cup, the Indian captain mentioned that he remains uncertain at this point, yet he praised Tilak Varma for his remarkable performance.
