Yuvraj Singh Draws Comparison Between MS Dhoni And Rohit Sharma’s Captaincy Before The ODI World Cup

India is all set to welcome the top cricket nations for the ODI World Cup 2023. Rohit Sharma and company have already started the preparation and currently the men in blue are on the tour of West Indies. Before the ODI World Cup, India has to play the Asia Cup which will be the final nail in the coffin before going to the ODI World Cup.

Now, before the ODI World, the former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has given a huge statement regarding the fate of team India and also about the Indian Captain Rohit Sharma.

Rohit’s unfortunate absence during India’s 2011 World Cup win has now turned into an opportunity for him to lead his team to victory on home soil as India is hosting the mega event solely at home. Rohit will look to correct past setbacks and overcome all the defeats India has got during the knockout. Yuvraj Singh believes that India’s success in this World Cup heavily depends on the batting of Rohit Sharma and he backed the Indian captain to perform at his best.

While talking to Cricket Basu Youtube Channel, Yuvraj Singh said,”I understand that Rohit Sharma is not in the best of forms right now. Last time also before the 2019 World Cup, he was not in good form in the IPL. And I told him that something special is coming, just be in the zone. And he went on to score 4-5 hundreds in the World Cup. So maybe he is not in the greatest form right now because he will go berserk at the World Cup. You never know. Everything happens for a reason. The same thing happened with me, and that’s what Sachin told me.”

Rohit’s performance in the 2019 IPL was very ordinary. He got 405 runs and guided Mumbai Indians to their fourth title. When the World Cup arrived, Rohit elevated his batting to exceptional heights and finished the tournament with an impressive 648 runs.

Talking about Rohit Sharma as captain, Yuvraj Singh said that many key players of team India are currently missing due to injuries. However, it doesn’t mean that Rohit Sharma is a bad captain.

“One minor injury, you will play IPL but not for India”: Kapil Dev’s Scathing Attack At Indian Star Player

While giving the example of MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma said,”Rohit has become a very good leader because he has captained Mumbai Indians for such a long time. And he is a very sensible guy under pressure. But the point is, no matter how sensible the captain is, you will have to give him a good team, which is experienced. MS Dhoni was a good captain but he had an equally good team at his arsenal with experienced players. They all played some special knocks and produced special spells. People have to put their hands up when there is pressure and say that ‘I am going to take my team through. I don’t see that happening.”
