‘There Hasn’t Been Any Other Captain In India Who Has Won As Many Trophies As MS Dhoni’, Virender Sehwag

MS Dhoni won the IPL 2023 as captain for the fifth time by beating Gujarat Titans by five wickets. But before it, the former Indian opener Virender Sehwag had a huge statement for the skipper of CSK.

MS Dhoni is a legendary cricketer who has captained the Chennai Super Kings for the past 15 years. Former India opener Virender Sehwag praised Dhoni for his ten-year-long career. Dhoni has captained the national team, as well as CSK in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and has won nearly every trophy he has played in his career.

On Monday Dhoni played his 11th IPL final against Gujarat Titans and won the game with the collective efforts of team members. Before it, Sehwag praised Dhoni for his all cricket techniques and said that the former Indian captain is born to win trophies.

“MS Dhoni was born to win trophies. There hasn’t been any other captain in India who has won as many trophies. T20-over world cup 50-over world cup, test championship, IPL. He’s here to win trophies,” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

Former Indian batter Manoj Tiwary also talked about the captaincy standards of MS Dhoni. He said that Dhoni knows how to groom young players and mentor a team most effectively.

Manoj Tiwary said, “He has made a huge impact. In IPL, the way he’s been mentoring besides captaincy. He was born to lead. You speak to him on any subject, he will respond. He has a deep understanding of the game too. If the bowling is weak, he knows how to improve it. We compare teams, said CSK have an inexperienced bowling line-up but barring a couple, the rest have done well in domestic and junior cricket.”

“The inexperience was visible during the early matches but with the same attack look what he has done. He always wants to keep things simple. He reads the situation well. God has been a little more generous to him than others. He must have done something good in his previous life for which he’s reaping rewards now,” he added.
