Shubman Gill Is Like This South African Veteran, Kevin Pietersen Compares India’s Youngster To The Legend After His Recent Failures

Shubman Gill has received criticism for his below-par performance in the first Test in Hyderabad and the first day of the second Test in Vizag has once again brought him to the limelight.

While batting in Hyderabad, Shubman Gill showed some composure. However, his innings came to an end as a loose shot against England’s James Anderson resulted in a catch by wicketkeeper Ben Foakes.

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen has encouraged fans and critics to be patient with the Indian batter and said that it is essential for the player to overcome this rough patch and make a comeback.

In a recent post on social media platform X, Kevin Pietersen compared Shubman Gill’s initial challenges as a Test player to those experienced by the former South African veteran, Jacques Kallis. Pietersen said that Gill will definitely bounce back.

“Kallis averaged 22 in his first 10 Tests and turned out to be arguably the greatest player to play the game @ShubmanGill time to find it please’s a serious player!” Kevin Pietersen in his tweet about Gill.

So far, Shubman Gill has gathered a total of 57 runs in three innings against England – a duck and 23 at Hyderabad, and 34 at Vizag. This has led to numerous fans and pundits advocating for the player to be excluded from the upcoming Tests.

His recent performances have been average. He has managed to gather only 207 runs in the last seven Tests, leading to a disappointing average of 18.81.
