IND vs ENG: Shreyas Iyer a Burden For Team India? Rohit Sharma & Co. Try Sarfaraz Khan In Place Him?

Shreyas Iyer’s performance in Test matches has witnessed a backfire. The batter is failing to justify his place in India’s Test team. In the second game of the five-match Test series, he was dismissed by Tom Hartley on his individual score of 27, and with this, his struggle for runs continued.

Sarfaraz Khan who had patiently waited for his call from team India for three years is still sitting on the bench. Iyer’s recent struggles raise concerns about whether Team India is willing to stick with him instead of giving Sarfaraz Khan the opportunity he has long awaited and rightfully deserves.

Since achieving his last half-century in December 2022, Shreyas Iyer has had a meager average of 15.80 in 11 Test innings. Despite getting another opportunity on Friday due to injuries to KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, Iyer fell short once again. He managed to score only 27 in India’s first innings of the second game.

The squad selection for the remaining three Tests of team India will take place soon, and the selectors must make a crucial decision.

On Friday, Iyer was sent back to the pavilion by Tom Hartley after scoring 27. He has struggled to find his rhythm in Tests with scores of 12, 0, 26, 31, 6, 0, 4, 35, 13, and 27 in his last 10 Test innings.

The Mumbai batter has impressed everyone with his heaps of runs in domestic cricket. He has showcased his skills and abilities in the unofficial Test match between India A and England Lions as well.

The batter has scored 96, 4, 55, and 161 against the England Lions, making a strong case for his inclusion in Team India. However, despite his efforts, the team management opted to go with Iyer in the starting XI instead.

Sarfaraz Khan is also so perfect at playing sweeps and reverse sweeps which will definitely help him against spin.
