“Loose Game, Smile Say nonsense….”Unveiling the Meaning Behind Steyn’s Dig at Hardik

Former South African pacesetter Dale Steyn is not at all happy with the players saying safe things and not showing any emotions after winning or losing games in the IPL.
Dale Steyn took to Twitter to criticize Hardik Pandya for his usual statement after losing games, as Mumbai are heading towards a disastrous campaign under his captaincy.

Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya was asked about his emotions after losing the game, to which he replied that it is not the right time to criticize players because everyone is a professional in the team. Dale Steyn is not at all happy with the players using similar kinds of words and phrases like “trusting the process,” “sticking to the basics, “etc.

Dale Steyn wrote in his X account, “I really look forward to the day players might say what’s honestly on their minds.” Instead, we somehow dumbed ourselves and our minds into saying the usual safe thing: lose the next game, smile, and then repeat that nonsense again.”

Apart from Mumbai’s failure to defend the total, Hardik too had another forgetful game in the IPL. The all-rounder made 10 of 10 deliveries with a bat, followed by 21 runs in his 2 overs.

After the match, Hardik once again said that the roles are very clear for the players, but they are not able to execute.

Hardik pandya said, “Overall, we did not put the right foot on the park, and eventually they outplayed us. After the game, it’s not the right time to go to the players; everyone is professional and knows their roles. What we can do is learn from this game and the mistakes that we have made, rectify them, and make sure that we don’t make them again. Progress is very important.”

Hardik Pandya further added, “Within the team, individually, we will have to accept our flaws and maybe work on those. I don’t believe much in chips and chops; I like to back players, and the focus would always be to play good cricket, sticking to our plans, and making sure that we don’t make the basic errors. Cricket is simple; as long as we keep it simple, it’s nice.”
