Former Australian cricketer Tom Moddy was all praise for Rohit Sharma for his leadership skills, as Rohit had a chat with Rinku Singh after the press conference for the World Cup.
Ahead of Mumbai’s game against the Knight Riders, Rohit Sharma was seen having a chat with Rinku Singh after his exclusion from the T20 World Cup squad.
In the press conference, Ajit Agarkar gave his views regarding the snub of Rinku from the World Cup squad, saying that it had nothing to do with performance but rather the playing combination that forced selectors to drop Rinku.
Rohit’s chat with Rinku was praised by Tom Moody, who said Rohit is a phenomenal leader and has good soft skills.
Tom Moody said, “That’s great leadership right there. Make sure you’re upfront and honest. It’s easier to speak to someone when they’re included in the squad; it’s always hard to speak to someone who has been left out.” “That’s why Rohit Sharma is so highly regarded around the playing group. He is a very good leader. He’s got those soft skills, which are so important around communication.”
Moddy further went on to say that it was not Rinku’s mistake that he was dropped from the World Cup squad; rather, it was Team India’s demand to have an extra all-rounder to have depth in their batting.
Tom Moody said, “For Rinku Singh, it doesn’t matter how many runs he gets in the rest of the IPL; it has to do with the balance of the side, and Ajit Agarkar was actually clear in the way he explained it.”
Moody further added, “Rinku Singh has been left out because they want the extra all-rounder in Axar Patel to give them the flexibility around that No. 7 spot and also the option of playing three spinners. It has nothing else to do with Rinku.”
Rinku Singh has been dropped from the main squad but is included in the traveler reserve.
